Congratulations to the top 15 Sime Darby Young Innovators Challenge (SDYIC) 2022 finalist teams for making it to the grand finale! We applaud the 2,495 students from 600 teams, of whom one-fifths come from rural schools, for submitting their applications to participate in the national challenge. Soon, this year’s finalist teams from 14 schools across 7 states nationwide will present their improved prototypes and pitch their inventions at the Grand Finale on 29 November 2022, with at least 3 teams bringing home innovation grants from the total fund of RM60,000. We are still in the thick of the 3-week National Camp, and look forward to great progress as we approach the Grand Finale. All the best to the top 15 finalist teams!

Three students represented Kolej Yayasan Saad & Melaka State in the Grand Finale of National Championship 2022 online from 29 Nov to 30 Nov 2022. Knows as Operation ReCell, this team consists of Harith Amsyar, Jasmin Alyssa and Shaznin Hana secured a spot in the Special Awards amongst the top 15 Finalists. The team worked on a system that promotes the recycling of weak batteries. They created Operation ReCell to raise awareness on fully utilizing batteries before the recycling process.In 5 months, their project went through many refinements and got consulted by professionals. On the day of the Grand Finale, they gathered their materials and made their final pitch to amplify their efforts to the judges, consisting of 4 representatives from Sime Darby and Ekuiti National Berhad (EKUINAS). Their effort was paid off as Operation ReCell received the most charismatic invention award.It is hoped that their achievements will inspire more KYS students to partake in the next SDYIC.
