Union Nights are students-organized events to help students develop leadership skills. Four of the school’s societies take turns to hold the monthly Union Night – Bahasa Melayu Society, English Language Society, Islamic Society and Science and Mathematics Society. The events take the form of inter-house competitions, such as science quizzes, religious studies quizzes, English dramas, talent shows, talks and speeches. Each House also holds and annual dinner, again entirely put together by the students, from planning to organizing to emceeing. Besides ensuring that guests enjoy a sumptuous dinner, the organizers would also have an entertainment programme of choral speaking, dances and songs.

Participation in the Outward Bound School is compulsory for students. It is part of the Anugerah Remaja Perdana programme organized by the Department of Youth and Sports, Melaka. The programme is the prelude to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in which gold, silver and bronze medals are presented in the areas of Adventurous Journey, Community Service Skills, Physical Recreation and Residential Project.

Given their high competitive spirit, the students do not just participate; they aim to top their peers in competitions such as the National Chemistry Quiz, National Mathematics Olympiad, National Science Challenge and World Scholar’s Cup. Their hobby-based activities bring them into the realm of robotic challenges, essay writing contests, mind quests and online multimedia competitions.
