Union Night – Malam Citrasari
PERBAYU (Malay Language Society) organised an event to showcase the talents of KYS students in dancing. This is a value added element in PERBAYU’s Arts and Culture activity. Besides, the purpose of ‘Malam Citrasari’ is also to encourage students to know more about our local culture. At the same time, it was also a cultural activity in the VC-KYS Students Exchange Programme. Two dance categories – Traditional Dance and Creative Dance were contested between the houses. After a very entertaining performance from all the houses, the champion in traditional dancing went to Rahman House. The champion in creative dancing was Razak. The overall ‘Malam Citrasari’ result was champion – Razak, 1st runner-up Rahman followed by Hussein House.

MSS Melaka Rugby 10 A’Side Tournament
Our Under 18 rugby team took part in this tournament. Intensive trainings were conducted from 26 April to 7 May 2010. A week before the tournament, on 29 April 2010, KYS played four pre-matches against SMK Teknik Melaka Tengah, SMS Muzaffar Shah, SMK Dang Anum and SMK Teknik Ampangan, Seremban at KYS grounds. KYS won all these matches.
On 8 May, KYS played in the Group Stage against three schools, SMK Munsyi Abdullah,
SM Teknik Jasin and SMK Bukit Baru. Our rugby team won all the matches and was placed in the top 8 teams. This qualifies KYS rugby team to play in the quarter finals Cup/Plate on 9 May 2010.
In the Quarter Final Cup/Plate, KYS played against MRSM Tun Ghaffar Baba. KYS won. The following game, was the Semi Final Cup. KYS played against SMK Tinggi Melaka. KYS won again and moved on to play in the Final Cup. KYS emerged Melaka State Champion after beating SMS Muzaffar Shah.

Premier Youth Award – ‘Tokoh Belia Remaja Negara’
The National Youth Day was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on 15 May 2010. In conjunction with this day, two KYS students were chosen as ‘Tokoh Belia Remaja Negara’ under the Gold Category for Rakan Muda Premier Youth Award (ARPRM). The students are Mohamad Suffian b Hamzah and Wan Nadira Hanim bt Zaiman. Their active involvements in the Premier Youth Award activities in KYS was given recognition by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as exemplary visionary youths with good personality and have shown excellence in academic and also cocurriculum.
We hope that this achievement will be a motivational factor for our students to excel in all aspects of leadership skills and personality development in line with our vision and mission statements.
“KYS BOLEH” and CONGRATULATIONS to Nadia Elena bt Norazlan who will be representing Malaysia in the ‘YOUTH FORUM FOR THE 2ND WORLD CONFERENCE ON ARTS & EDUCATION’ in Seoul, Korea from 20 to 26 May 2010. This is another success story in our PYA programme. This international involvement of KYS students is inspirational and we look forward to engage our students in other international programmes.
Melaka Excellent Student Award 2010
Each of the five KYS top students, Wan Nadira Hanim bt. Mohd Zaiman, Nurizzati bt.Zainal Nazeri, Syahmi Ammar b. Mohd Nasir, Nadzrif b. Bidin and Fatin Daleela bt.Zahari, for having achieved straight A+ grades in the SPM 2009 examination was given a Melaka Excellent Student Award by the Melaka State Government . The award was given in a ceremony held at the Dewan Seri Negeri, Melaka by the Chief Minister of Melaka, YAB Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam.22 May 2010
Teachers’ Day
KYS teachers were celebrated by their students in a Teachers’ Day ceremony organised by the school’s College Committee. Form representatives in their speeches thanked and expressed gratitude to teachers for their dedication and commitment in educating KYS students. There were performances and multimedia presentations by students showing moments they treasured most with their teachers. KYSERs in different parts of the world also send Teachers’ Day wishes. Certificate of appreciation were given out to all teachers for good results achieved in 2009 – 100% straight A grades in PMR 2009 and School Average Grade, 0.58 for SPM 2009.
