Teachers Day & Labour Day Celebration 2011 (16 May 2011)

On the 16^th of May 2011, the College Committee of Kolej Yayasan Saad organised the Annual Teacher’s Day Celebration at the Great Hall. The event started at around 8:30 a.m. with the arrival of the Director of Studies, Dr Chia Keng Boon, managers, teachers and administrative staff of the school.

First on the programme was the recital of prayers by Ahmad Zaki Nor Azlan. This was followed by Mr Tan Cheh Li, the Assistant Director of Studies, delivering the message from the Minister of Education, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Next was the Director of Studies’ turn to deliver his speech. In keeping with tradition, all the teachers then went up on stage to sing the songKami Guru Malaysia followed by a pledge from the teachers led by Dr Chia himself. The song and pledge were very inspiring and it surely lifted up the spirits of all.

Next on the itinerary was the delivery of speeches from representatives of each of the batches followed by multimedia presentations specially prepared for the teachers. The speeches alternated with the multimedia presentations by the KYS-ERs from the previous batches who are now furthering their studies in various places. The speeches also alternated with 2 games sessions. The first was a karaoke session and the other one was a guessing game where the teacher and the place where specific objects could be found had to be identified according to the description given. The teachers co-operated to make these sessions very enjoyable ones.

After that, the Fifth Formers had their turn in performing for the teachers followed by a special surprise performance by the Director of Studies himself. He sang two songs while playing the electric guitar. Everyone was astounded by his great talent and performance. Later gifts from Zahidah Marina and also the Interact Club of Kolej Yayasan Saad were presented to participants of the games sessions.

Before the event ended, the “Student Choice Awards” was carried out. Teachers and administrative staff were nominated for various categories and the students had to vote the winners. The teachers who won under the various categories were very happy after being “crowned” and they thanked those who voted for them during their thank you speeches.

The celebration ended at around 1 p.m. with all the teachers, administrative staff and students proceeding to the dining hall for lunch. Delicious cakes sponsored by parents were also served to the teachers.

Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly were very happy with this year’s Teachers’ Day celebration. A job well done by the College Committee!
