History of Kolej Yayasan Saad, Melaka
1995
In 1995 construction of the Kolej Yayasan Saad campus began on a 131 acre piece of prime land at Ayer Keroh, Melaka. The ground-breaking ceremony of the school complex was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 19 January 1995.
The Renong Education Centre (REC), ably helmed by its Director, Encik Rozalli Noordin, was given the responsibility to supervise and monitor the progress of the construction of the college campus.
In the early days of its establishment, the administration office of KYS was set up at the Renong Education Centre at Faber Towers, Jalan Kelang Lama, Kuala Lumpur. The pioneer employees which was made up of seven academic staff-members and five administrative personnel later moved to the KYS campus at Ayer Keroh on 2 May 1995 when the construction of the school complex was completed.
The first intake of 60 Form 1 students (40 boys and 20 girls) registered at Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka on 25 June 1995.

1996 – 11 June, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mahathir Mohamad visited KYSM, accompanied by the Chief
Minister of Melaka.

1997 – October/November, the first PMR batch (9597) and the first SPM batch (9697) sat for their PMR and
SPM Exam respectively.
- History was recorded with the SPM batch charting a 100% pass this year.
1998 - 20 November, launching of the KYSM Orchestra by Datin Seri Dr. Siti Hasmah Bt Mohamad Ali. The
launching ceremony together with the orchestra’s first performance was held at the Great Hall of Kolej
Yayasan Saad Melaka.
- Announcement of PMR 1998, KYSM charted the best PMR record in the country with 85.9% students securing 8As.
2000 – 6 January, another milestone in the history of KYSM when 7 non-bumiputera students
registered as new Form 1 students (five Chinese and 2 Indians)
- 21 December, announcement of the PMR results. KYSM scored another sterling record of 98.2%
students scoring 8As and thus, recording the best PMR results for year 2000.
2001 – KYSM recieved the award for Best PMR Result 2001 (National Level)
- KYSM received the award for Best SPM Results 2001 (National Level)
2002 – KYSM was awarded the best PMR 2002 (National Level)
- Award for Best PMR Results 2002 (National Level)
- Award for Best SPM Result 2002 (National Level)
2003 – KYSM was awarded with the `Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik’ (Kategori Institusi Pendidikan
Swasta, Sekolah Menengah)
- KYSM was awarded with the ’Anugerah Kecemerlangan Ko-Kurikulum’ (Kategori Institusi Pendidikan Swasta, Sekolah Menengah)
- KYSM recieved the ’Anugerah Sekolah Cemerlang SPM 2003’ (National Level)
- 1st KYSM-Vajiravudh College, Thailand Students Exchange Programme

2005 – CyberlinQ Maxis – KYSM was awarded the Top 5 Most Active Website (Secondary School
Category)
- KYSM participated in the making of the longest “Pulut Panggang” in Malaysia (Endorsed by
Malaysia Book of Records)

2008 - 21 st Feb., Chief Minister of Melaka, Dato Seri Wira Mohd Ali Rustam visited KYSM to congratulate
the college for the attainment of the national record of 100% As for all subjects in the PMR
examination.
- 5 th July, Launching of 100 days to PMR – Guest of Honour: Mdm Hasnah Saad
- 2 nd Aug., Launching of 100 days to SPM – Guest of Honour: YBhg Dato Seri Che Khalib Mohd Noh
- KYSM emerged as Champion for the Public Speaking Competition 2008(Private Schools – Southern
Zone)
- KYSM seized 1 st Runner-Up in the Choir Competition in conjunction with National Day 2008
