Student Affairs

Student Affairs : Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care (Housemaster System)

At Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka, we are committed to provide every student with the same pastoral care that he or she can expect while living with his or her own parents. While at Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka, the Principal and his staff will be the students’ guardians.

The Housemasters, Housemistresses and wardens will have the full time role of monitoring and promoting the students’ personal security, health welfare, discipline and social education. These full-time staff members live on the campus, so students have 24 hour supervision and care. Every other teacher and staff member, who are mentors of the academic and general welfare of the students, are sympathetic tutors whom students can approach at any time for help and advice.

At Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka, students are allocated to three residential houses – the Rahman House, Razak House and Hussein House respectively. Each House is governed by a Housemaster who is assisted by a Housemistress and a warden. In these residential houses, students undertake various activities, and enjoy assemblies and have an opportunity of fostering camaraderie with other students of different age groups and socio-economic backgrounds.

The college also has two counselors who offer counseling to students on a range of issues which include those related to academic, friendship, family and personal matters. Students can be referred to counseling by either teachers or may even self-refer. The counselors also offer career guidance and personality development as well as assist in subject selection (after PMR) and post- SPM scholarships.
